Big Easy Hotel Guide

Options for Hotels in New Orleans

When looking for Hotels in the Big Easy, one has many options to chose from. Location and price being the two big factors. There are some great deal near the French Quarter, and luxurious accommodations galore. New Orleans is also home to many nice Bed and Breakfasts, and of course there is Air B and B.

French Quarter Area

Best Chain Hotel on the Strip - THE RITZ-CARLTON is usually the best hotel on "the strip", regardless of what town you're in. New Orleans is just lucky enough to have one, so if you have the bread, stay here.

Other Great Options near the French Quarter: - Marriot, Sheraton, The W, and Harrah's are all on Canal, the major street that sits on top of the French quarter. These are you classic big hotels.

For those looking for a more New Orleans experience, Hotel Monteleone is near the top of the list. The rooms are a little small like most luxury rooms in the French Quarter. They have a very cool bar and rooftop pool. It's just off Bourbon St. and not as noisy as some other places.

Royal Sonesta - Located in the heart of Burbon Street, this luxurious hotel has a popular pool area and ornate decor.

Best Deals near the French Quarter

If you looking to stay downtown on a budget. There are a few hotels in the CBD (Central Business District) that are just a few blocks from Canal, and in a decent area of town. The rooms are usually decent, and they are almost always less noisy. When I had to move out of the Big Easy for a while, it's where I would always stay on business trips.

Small Boutique Hotels in the Quarter - Try the Hotel ST. Pierre. It's small, nice, affordable, and in the heart of the quarter.

Uptown

The Columns Hotel in Uptown - This is a very cool place, located in Uptown New Orleans, about 5 miles from the quarter. The porch turns into a popular bar from about 5 till midnight. College kids, doctors, professionals, and the Big Easy Surfg staff all enjoy this place. They do shut the bar down semi-early (well at least for this town) as a courtesy to the guests.

Maison Perrier - An Uptown Bed and Breakfast, Maison Perrier is a large property that offers a range of rooms from $90 to $300. Walking distance to the Columns, Magazine Street, Mardi Gras Parades, and Tips. MaisonPerrier.com

There are a few chain hotels on St Charles, but they are sort of in-between uptown and the French Quarter.

The Big Easy Burbs - Metairie, Kenner, Harahan, and Gretna are all not that far away. Mandeville, Slidell, and Covington are about 30-50 miles away. During busy times of the year you can find nice hotels at affordable rates outside the city.
